Get Help
If you’re living on the streets without a roof over your head or in an unsafe environment, Austin Street Center’s emergency shelter has a caring and experienced team that can help. Austin Street can provide basic needs assistance to individuals with no safe or accessible place to go and can guide our clients to finding a permanent place to call home.
Client Requirements
Our emergency shelter cannot serve individuals who are registered sex offenders.
Clients must meet the below criteria:
Government I.D.
No More Than 25 LBs Each
Must Be Able to Self-Care
Intake
We evaluate individuals seeking shelter on a walk-up basis Monday – Friday from 11am – 4pm.
- Walk-up individuals may enter our Welcome Center as early as 8am and are encouraged to arrive as soon as possible as our beds are typically filled before 12pm.
- Walk-ups are evaluated for intake on a lottery basis as we frequently have more people seeking shelter than we are able to accommodate.
Referrals
- Referrals must be received by 6pm to be evaluated for a bed on the following day.
- Referrals must be sent with the attached form completely and accurately completed.
- Referral acceptance is subject to availability and each referring entity must receive a personalized response of acceptance before sending individuals to our shelter.
- If the form is not complete or the process is not followed, referrals will be returned to the referring entity for assistance.
