Position Purpose

They say “teamwork makes the dream work,” and we have found that to be true at Austin Street Center.  We serve thousands of people each year with wraparound services that we could not provide just from our staff alone.  We currently have nearly 50 partner agencies and groups that provide services at our shelter regularly!

This position will manage and monitor our service partnerships, making sure that our partners are able to provide the services to the quality and quantity they hope for and that all partnerships are fully documented and supported.  This leader will also supervise our Education and Employment Program Career Coach position, since our program relies so much upon partnerships to succeed.

We are looking for a leader who can balance an extreme people orientation with great attention to detail who recruit additional partners to join us in our cause to end homelessness in Dallas.  Are you kind, trustworthy, and dedicated person who wants to make a difference with some of our most vulnerable neighbors?  This position may be for you!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervision: manage training, performance, and satisfaction of team members from various disciplines
  • Process management: ensure processes are documented and followed by all team members
  • Manage partnerships: recruit new partners, meet regularly with current partners, document all partnerships in active Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and ensure that all partners are supported as much as possible to do their best work with us
  • Service marketing and communication: ensure that all services are communicated to team members and the people we serve via announcements, digital advertisements, and various media

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in social work, management, or human services field
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written communication
  • Demonstrates experience with and sensitivity to varying cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, values, and attitudes
  • Intermediate to advanced familiarity with digital communication, including cloud-based software, e-mail, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis
  • Able to work outside in adverse weather conditions when needed
  • Able to work in a noisy environment with a large group of people

 

Additional Experience a Plus:

  • Lived experience in homelessness, recovery, or deep poverty valued
  • Experience with graphic design and creative writing preferred
  • Experience with employment coaching, partner/volunteer development, and/or personnel management
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Training in Housing First, Motivational Interviewing, the Transtheoretical Model of Change, Harm Reduction, and/or Trauma-Informed Care
  • U.S. Military service
