At 69, Beverly had spent a year experiencing homelessness before seeking help at Nexus, where she spent 28 days working through addiction and emotional challenges. Recognizing her need for continued support, Nexus referred her to Sisterhood, where she spent three months building the skills and confidence to move forward. Through counseling, mental health resources and practical life skills, Beverly learned how to care for herself, manage her emotions and become more self-reliant.
“Sisterhood saved my life,” Beverly says. She credits the program with giving her the tools to make lasting changes, but she also recognizes the importance of choosing to use them. After leaving Sisterhood in January 2024, Beverly moved into a sober living home, where she continued her journey toward independence and saved money from her disability income. Today, she has moved into her own apartment and is proud of how far she has come. With a new lead on life, Beverly is looking ahead to a future shaped by her growth, independence and continued recovery.
